At 683 Columbia Turnpike, the Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073 has built something that most organizations only claim: a genuinely warm community where strangers become regulars and regulars become lifelong friends. Rated 4.6 out of 5 by nearly 90 members and guests, this lodge earns that reputation one handshake at a time.

The building itself is a proper gathering place, with a spacious indoor event hall, outdoor areas, and ample parking that actually fits the crowd when a charity benefit or community night draws a full house. The front bar is reserved for members, a nod to the Elks tradition of earned fellowship, but the lodge regularly opens its doors to the public for fundraisers, dinners, and special events that benefit local families and causes.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has been serving American communities since 1868, and Lodge #2073 carries that legacy forward right here in the Capital Region. If you have attended a benefit here and felt the energy of the room, you already know what members experience every week.

What We Offer

Lodge #2073 hosts a rotating calendar of public charity benefits, community dinners, and seasonal events that bring East Greenbush and the surrounding Rensselaer County area together. These aren't quiet affairs; past guests describe a lively, friendly atmosphere with a decent-sized crowd and a hall that handles it well.

Membership unlocks access to the members-only bar, voting rights on lodge initiatives, and participation in the Elks' national charitable programs, including scholarships for local students, veteran support, and youth activities. The lodge also provides a venue for private events, making it a practical choice for organizations looking for a community-rooted space with real character.

For those exploring membership, the process is straightforward: you must be a U.S. citizen, believe in God, and be sponsored by a current member. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a public event first to get a feel for the community before applying.

"Went there for charity benefit and had a nice time. Open to public for some events although main bar in front is members only. I'm a member of Legion where it's always open to public but I'll likely join Elks based upon my experience this night. Drinks are cheap ($2.75 for a decent glass of wine) and while there wasn't table service the line was short. Staff I encountered were professional and nice. The band was comprised of some members from our church band, St Mary's Clinton Heights. They rock out as well as they play hymns. Large parking lot in rear. A fun evening."

"This place is great. I'm not a member, but in the past year I had both my wedding reception there and my retirement party. I catered through them for the wedding and everyone bragged about how good the food tastes. The staff are amazing and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place for renting a hall!"

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
